NEW YORK-The Third Annual Short Film Awards has announced the 2016 Sofie Award Nominees in 20 categories. Screenings of the films will be held Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10, 2016 and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, on Sunday, December 11, 2016 – all taking place at The Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway.  Actor Rico E. Mr. Anderson is an award-winning actor, with a long list of impressive credits, including Star Trek: Renegades and Star Trek: Horizon. “Because of my Star Trek roles, it is very meaningful to me to host The Sofie Awards in The Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre,” Anderson said. “Short Films are not only a powerful art form in their own right, they can be credited with launching careers and conversations that change the world.”

Film submissions to The Short Film Awards came from more than 60 countries. All Sofie Award Nominees receive an official The Short Film Awards Nominee Medal. The winner in each category receives the prestigious and beautiful Sofie statue, designed by the same manufacturers of the most prestigious and coveted film and TV awards.

The Short Film Awards are a 501c3 nonprofit founded in 2014 to promote and extol short films as an important and unique art form and outlet for social commentary; and to honor the talent and hard work of the giants of short film each year.
